The Claims, Litigations and Insurance Officer will manage and oversee the claims function within the Noatum Maritime Agency, ensuring efficient, fair, and timely handling of all claims in accordance with internal policies, legal requirements, and industry standards. Manage the company’s insurance portfolio, handle all insurance claims, and manage pre-litigation disputes to protect company assets.
The Claims, Litigations and Insurance Officer will collaborate closely with the Compliance Counsel to ensure that claims processes align with compliance frameworks and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Manage the end-to-end BU claims process, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of claims across all maritime operations while keeping the Legal Director at the BU and the Claims / Insurance Manager at Maritime & Shipping Cluster updated. Oversee litigations and manage the relationships with external counsels to ensure that processes, depositions and trials are fully covered. Whenever needed, attend deposition/trials as a company representative. Recommend settlement amounts and negotiate settlements within authorized limits.
- Insurance Management: Liaise with BU and Group insurance functions, ensuring validity, coverage and protection for the company.
- Process Optimization: Develop and implement efficient claims handling procedures and workflows to improve operational effectiveness in compliance with the Claims Handling Policy of M&S Cluster. Ensure all claims are entered into and maintained in ADP’s Claims Database.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for internal departments and external parties regarding claims matters.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Monitor claims trends and performance metrics to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Policy Alignment: Ensure claims practices are aligned with internal policies, insurance requirements, and legal obligations.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Provide guidance and support to colleagues involved in claims-related activities across the cluster on day to day matters and escalate to the legal team as appropriate.

Minimum requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Maritime business or a related field and have at least 5 years of prior claims handling experience is required.
- 5 years of experience in claims management, preferably in the maritime or logistics sector.
- Academic background in Maritime Studies is highly valued.
- International Group’s Claims Handling Diploma, if cleared, is valuable.
- Proven experience in handling complex claims, working with legal, compliance, and insurance stakeholders, and contributing to strategic initiatives in an International environment.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written). Spanish fluency is a plus.
- Any other European language is valued.
- In-depth knowledge of claims handling procedures and insurance frameworks.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Analytical thinking and data-driven decision-making.
- Familiarity with maritime law and international trade regulations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally without direct authority.
