The Claims Manager will be leading our NVOCC Claims Department, taking care of end-to-end management of cargo loss and damage claims, protecting the Company financial interests while maintaining excellent relationships with our Global Customers and Partners.

  • Claims Lifecycle Management: Oversee the intake, investigation, and resolution of all cargo claims (shortage, damage, theft, and delay).
  • Liability Analysis: Evaluate claims based on the Bill of Lading terms, international conventions (Hague-Visby, COGSA), and local regulations.
  • Negotiation & Settlement: Negotiate directly with shippers, consignees, and insurance adjusters to reach cost-effective settlements.
  • Subrogation & Recovery: Proactively pursue third-party recoveries from ocean carriers, truckers, and warehouse providers.
  • Risk Mitigation: Analyze claim trends to identify root causes and implement Loss Prevention strategies across the supply chain.
  • Legal Liaison: Collaborate with external maritime counsel and NVOCC liability underwriters on high-value or litigated claims.
  • Reporting: Maintain a claims database and provide monthly reports on reserves, paid claims, and recovery ratios.

Minimum requirements

  • Has a deep understanding of maritime law, ocean freight operations, and insurance recovery.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in marine cargo claims or maritime insurance (NVOCC or Freight Forwarding background highly preferred).
  • Education: Bachelor degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Law, or a related field.
  • Expertise: Solid grasp of Incoterms, ocean freight documentation, and marine insurance policies.
  • Skills: Exceptional negotiation tactics, analytical thinking, and the ability to remain calm under pressure when dealing with frustrated stakeholders.
  • Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and specialized Logistics/Claims Management software.
