About the Role – HR Manager India

We are currently looking for a HR Manager to join our Maritime business area.

Responsible for leading all HR matters for NMS India, supporting business growth, compliance, employee relations, and people operations across the local market. The role offers the opportunity to build and lead the people agenda for a growing international business in Turkey.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Policy Implementation: Ensure consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and best practices across Turkey operations.
  • Compliance Oversight: Guarantee adherence to local labor laws and global HR standards.
  • Employee Lifecycle Management: Oversee recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and offboarding processes.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Manage compensation and benefits programs in coordination with corporate HR.
  • Performance Management: Drive the implementation and consistency of performance evaluation processes.
  • HR Systems & Tools: Oversee the implementation and optimization of HRIS and digital tools to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the creation and continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Internal Communication: Ensure clear and effective communication of HR initiatives, policies, and updates across all levels of the organization.
  • Audit & Risk Management: Support internal and external audits, ensuring HR practices meet compliance and risk management standards.
  • Payroll: Manage external payroll providers and relevant HR vendors Payroll and statutory benefits knowledge.
  • Employee Relations: Manage employee-related matters, grievances, disciplinary processed and exits in line with local labour law.
  • Monitor HR metrics including headcount, turnover, hiring progress, absenteeism and compliance reporting.
  • Recruitment: Lead end to end recruitment for local positions and partner with hiring managers on talent acquisition.
  • Local Labour Law Expertise: Strong knowledge of Indian labour law. Employee termination/disciplinary process knowledge Works council/consultant exposure if relevant

People Management Responsibilites:

  • Culture Building: Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture.
  • Performance Development: Conduct regular reviews and support career growth for direct reports.
  • Communication & Alignment: Ensure effective communication between local teams and corporate leadership.
  • Best Practice Sharing: Promote standardization and knowledge sharing across Indian operations.

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Act as a business partner to country management on workforce planning and organizational design.
  • Advise managers on performance and people decisions
  • Balance employee experience with operational needs
  • Support business growth and restructuring where required
  • Culture & Engagement: Drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement and support cultural transformation.

Minimum requirements

Educational Background

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Solid knowledge of local labor laws and HR practices in India.
  • Experience working within structured, policy-driven and compliance-focused environments is preferred.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience in HR roles, preferably within multicultural or international environments.
  • Previous experience in an HR Manager, HRBP or senior HR generalist position.
  • Proven experience in managing employee lifecycle processes (recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, offboarding).
  • Experience in coordinating with regional/global HR teams and aligning local practices with corporate standards.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, governance, and local employment regulations in India.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of HR processes, policies, and employee lifecycle management.
  • Ability to balance business needs with employee engagement and wellbeing.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to manage employee relations topics effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (both locally and with global teams).
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and compliance.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
